Wiper Mulyungi Nguna Thank Uhuru Ksh1M For Tragedy

MWINGI, Thursday - Wiper MPs Gideon Mulyungi and Charles Nguna today thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ukambani leaders for empathising and financially supporting bereaved families during a requeim mass for the 10 pupils who lost their lives during the fatal Mwingi accident, local media reported.



President Uhuru Kenyatta, through Education CS Monica Juma donated Ksh 1 million today and waived mortuary and hospital bills for the families - a presidential speech read by the CS also empathised with the families during the solemn occasion today afternoon.



"We call on the contractor along Garissa road to erect proper signs and clear all debrils from the highway. We also want the concerned party to erect guard rails at the Kanginga Tyaa bridge.



Many young lives would have been saved if this had been done before" said the Wiper MP flanked by his Mwingi West counterpart Charles 'CNN' Nguna.



On his part, Nguna, whose constituency lost three pupils, called on the drivers - especially those ferrying school pupils and students - to respect the Highway Code and desist from travelling at night.



Amongst dignitaries who graced the solemn occasion at St.Joseph Seminary in Mwingi today included Wiper party leader HE Kalonzo Musyola, Kitui Governor HE Kaluki Ngilu, Senator Kioo Wambua amongst other government officials and MCAs drawn from Ukambani, MP PRESS reported.
