MP Nguna Blasts Kuvasila, Brands Him A Sand Cartel

By PATRICK KIMANZI

Popular Mwingi West Charles Nguna has blasted Kitui County Minister Hon. Kuvasila as a sand cartel leader who has no mandate over the people of Mwingi West.

The Wiper legislator fired the salvo after  the Minister for tourism and sports who doubles as Minister for Environment and Natural Resources Hon. Patric Koki Musau told the MP that the Kiroboko Sand mining will go on.

"They are using cartels and benefiting only four people. No impact assessment has been done and no roads have been graded. They are only interested in lining their pockets" said Hon. Charles Nguna.

Adding that Kuvasila is too nondescript to engange with him, Nguna said that he will mobilize the residents to kick out the sand harvesters from Kiroboko.

"Remind Kuvasila that the functions of an MP include representation, oversight , budget appropriation. The MP has mandate over the whole country.

"Why are the 5 stealing public resources? I should be dealing with the Governor not a mere appointee ! Who’s he representing?" Wondered Nguna.

Adding that the Kitui Governor should issue a statement over the Kiboroko sand harvesting debacle, Nguna said that he represents the people and he will fight tooth and nail to ensure they benefit from natural resources under his jurisdiction.

"The people are not happy! The sand business is only benefiting 5 people and not the real Mwananchi. The sand cartels are exploiting our youth by paying them only Ksh 200 as they haul barrels of sand under a scorching sun" said the Wiper MP.

"No! I will not allow the Kiboroko sand mining to go on unless the Governor issues a statement over the exploitation. Tell him that" retorted the visibly angry MP.
