MWINGI - Kitui anti-corruption crusader and pro-poor people Mwingi Central Mp Gideon Mulyungi, in whose constituency the mineral rich Mui Basin lies, has declined to sign the Kitui Mining deal until his constituents are fully involved and Community Irreducible Minimums are agreed upon before mining commences, local media reported..

"Yes its true that I am maintaining my pro-poor people stand. I have a mandate from my people and therefore I have delined to sign the mineral exploitation pact until all my constituents are adequeately consulted. I warn the expedition that no coal will be mined in Mui until my electorate Irreducible Minimums are met, factored and respected" said the Wiper Mp today evening.

The so-called mining deal (below), sneaked to residents in a gung-ho style, and whose contents appeared rushed, and without any addendum clauses - was circulated yesterday with Hon. Gideon Mulyungi NAME glaringly missing from the list of pact signatories, as circulated in the online media, said the legislator.

Mwingi Central Mp has maintained a tough stance over the mining pact and Mui Basin coal exploration that favours his electorate - the popular Wiper Mp is advocating for proper land survey of the mineral rich coal blocks, issuance of title deeds to locals and an all inclusive stakeholder negotiation - and proper compensation.
