Development Tops Kalonzo State Hse Call

NAIROBI -Development matters for Ukambani topped the agenda as Wiper Democratic Movement Leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka yesterday led Senators, Members of Parliament, County Speakers and Majority Leaders of his party for a courtesy call on President Uhuru Kenyatta in State House Nairobi.



The meeting, meant to address several developmental matters and also share the party’s position on the current political affairs, fight against corruption and ethnicity among others was a success.



Kalonzo who addressed the media today after opening the 3rd Africa Political summit at the intercontinental hotel, said his visit to statehouse was not in any for political power but for development, the big four Agenda which is also pegged on vision 2030.

He said he is not interested in “nusu Mkate” kind of arrangement but rather an agenda to move the country forward.

The agendas presented to the President by the team included;

1) The fast tracking of the Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui-Mwingi-Kandwia - Gatunga –Usueni Road

We appreciate the ongoing construction of the Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui portion.

2) Wikithuki Irrigation Scheme in Tseikuru Sub County of Kitui County;

3) Tseikuru Airstrip;

4) Kiambere-Mwingi Water project and Sanitation Project Systems (Phase Two) – This Italian funded project has unnecessarily stalled, and the Ministry of Water needs to accelerate its implementation and as initiator of the project, I will be available for consultation and guidance.

5) The High Grand Falls Dam traversing Tharaka/Nithi and Kitui Counties has the potential to revolutionize agriculture and alleviate poverty in a whole region up-to the coastal counties.

6) The Coal mining project in the Mui Basin needs activation;

7) I thank you for the ongoing work in Konza City and the Thwake Dam project (Makueni County)

8) Emali-Ukia Road (Makueni County)

9) National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to buy pulses, namely: Green grams, Cowpeas and pigeon peas, produced in the Lower Eastern Region of the country including EMBU/MERU/THARAKA NITHI Counties.

The President according to Kalonzo agreed to follow-up the above issues and that relevant ministries will be contacting the team for further discussion and implementation plan.

Kalonzo reiterates that he will continue to support the president on the fight against corruption, the agenda of inclusivity and ethnicity.

The Wiper Leader was accompanied by over 30 Wiper elected members to the statehouse meeting.
