Runaway insecurity

Speaking at Kyuso on a meet-the-people tour as part of a wider programme to appraise himself with the insecurity situation in Engamba, Mandongoi, Kasiluni, Iluni and Sosoma, Senator Kiio said as the elected representative of the people of Kitui County in the Senate, the camels must leave Kitui before any meaningful peace talks can take place.

Bandits running roughshod over farmers

"How are our people expected to sit in peace meetings with invaders whose animals are ravaging their farms? When my people ask for the animals to be driven away from their farms, the herders kill our people on our land. What kind of justice is this where you are asked to live peacefully with people who have invaded your farm and killed innocent complainants? Where else does this happen?

Talk shops

I have no problem talking about peace everywhere, all the time. But this raw impunity must be brought to an end. I will support law enforcement agencies to secure my people. Full stop!"

Bandit-prone Engamba

Last month Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi toured Egamba, a bandit-prone enclave in Nuu, Mwingi. This correspondent spotted an abadoned school, modern water boozer serving the Somali herders as they chewed khat at their makeshift homes a clear indication that they will be tarrying for a long haul.

From as far as Wajir

"Upon asking the herders for an ID, I was taken aback! The identity card indicted that some of the herders come from as far as Wajir County" said the Wiper Strongman speaking to radio reporters at Engamba last month.

Sporadic gun attacks

Last week, residents at Ukasi - the epicenter of sporadic attacks rejected  Peace Committees proposed by Interior CS Matiang'i despite a high profile meeting led by County Commissioners from the affected areas, this website reported.

Ends.
